Practitioner Online Course: Learning Self-Organization

Self-organization is the foundation of our work as Feldenkrais practitioners. Better self-organization results in better Functional Integration® lessons. Yet it is not something we “know”—rather, it is a practice, something that we train in again and again and again.

Moving with an equal distribution of muscular tone is a basic principle of the Feldenkrais Method®. When you are teaching do your hands and fingers feel strain? Do you experience neck or back discomfort? Can you lift your client’s head or limbs without changing the tone in your arms? By making self-organization a daily personal practice, you’ll be able to consistently:

  • Improve the quality of your touch.
  • Give higher quality Functional Integration lessons.
  • Improve your comfort while working.
  • Support yourself and work with proportional, equal distribution of tone.
  • Improve your ability to listen to what your client communicates when you touch them.

"I was hesitant about the on-line class, but it exceeded my expectations. The ease, elegance, precision, and engagement that Jeff exhibited through his words and work created a rich learning environment. It fostered exploration, curiosity, and heightened my enthusiasm to improve the quality of my work as a practitioner." (2015 Participant)

This seven-week online class will delve into the heart of self-organization. It will utilize the DVDs from the five-day workshop, Learning Self-Organization Again and Again and Again… recorded June 2014. Each week, you will study the videos from one day of the workshop; we will then get together online to discuss the material and answer your questions. It is ideal if you wish to study this material deeply with my guidance.

I am excited that the technology is now available that will allow us to meet virtually—you will be able to see me, I will be able to see you, and we can talk as if we were in the same room.

By taking this course, you will have met the prerequisite for the IOPS Academy (Ideal Organization & Profound Strength), my new graduate program for Feldenkrais practitioners, beginning on the west coast in Fall 2016.
